You will own taste, judgement, restraint and refinement. You are Ai native and looking for an in person role. You design in Figma and Paper (or other Ai tools). You prototype in Cursor and Claude. You ship motion and micro-interaction in real code, not in a Smart Animate prototype. You hand engineering a working artifact, not a spec. What you'll do:Own the loop from user research to interactive prototype to shipped surface. Frame the problem, sketch the direction, validate it with real users, ride it into production.Translate new AI capability. New model behaviors arrive every quarter. Your job is to turn them into patterns operators understand on first use.Pressure-test ideas in code before committing to a direction. v0, Cursor, Claude Code, Paper, Figma. The order is whatever gets you to the answer fastest. Working artifacts beat decks.Ship motion and micro-interaction in real code. Not Figma prototypes. The detail that makes a product feel inevitable lives in the rendered surface.Decide what not to build. Restraint is the senior skill. The hardest line in the work is the one you talk the team out of.Curate quality across the product. Type scale, focus states, keyboard handling, perceived performance. You are the person who notices the four-pixel offset and cares enough to fix it.Grow the design system as it earns its place. Components emerge from real surfaces, not from a kit-of-parts exercise. You document what compounds. How you work:DesignFigma for systems, mockups, and team workshopsPaper for AI-native, HTML/CSS-real canvas workReal product surfaces — no Dribbble shots, no demo loopsAI toolingClaude Code as default editorsA modern React and TypeScript codebase you can ship intoThe teamA small founding team that hires for taste at every seatAn engineering culture that pairs designers tightly into shipping, not handoffWhat we are looking for:A portfolio of live, shipped product. Real users, real surfaces. We will read it carefully — motion, focus states, keyboard handling, the small decisions. The detail you cared about in past work tells us what you will care about here.Designer first. Your identity is design. You can open a Figma file, redesign a screen, and justify the type scale. You can sit in a research call and come out with a sharper problem than you went in with.Code-fluent in the AI era. Claude Code are part of your daily workflow. You can read modern React and TypeScript, write small components, ship a working prototype, and know when to keep going and when to hand off to engineering.Taste, with restraint. You have opinions about animation and you also know when not to animate. Speed beats delight. The surface should feel inevitable, not impressive.A view on AI-native interaction. You have thought about streaming UIs, agent state, partial outputs, tool-call surfaces, and the quiet design problem of keeping a human in the loop without slowing them down. You want to be inventing this grammar, not waiting to copy it.A bias toward shipping. Small team, high velocity. You push working artifacts, not status updates. Design docs are short. Prototypes are real.Onsite in Austin. The product gets sharper across the room.Hiring processPlease DM me with your portfolio of live work (not mockups). After that, we will have a couple of short calls to understand how you design, followed by a paid take-home project.
