DescriptionProject Control AnalystFully Remote or Hybrid - Agoura Hills, CA, depending on experiencePosition SummaryAvum is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Project Control Analyst to support financial management across government contracts and programs. This role partners closely with program management, finance, and leadership to ensure accurate project financials, maintain compliance with federal regulations, and provide visibility into contract performance.The ideal candidate will bring experience in a government contracting environment and have a strong understanding of Costpoint, project level financial tracking, and indirect rate structures. This role plays a key part in supporting profitability, cost control, audit readiness, and overall program financial health.Key ResponsibilitiesPartner with Program Managers and leadership to develop, manage, and update project budgets, forecasts, and Estimate at Completion (EAC) modelsMonitor project financial performance, including revenue, costs, margins, and burn rates, and provide variance analysis and recommendationsSupport job cost accounting activities, including tracking direct and indirect costs across contractsMaintain a strong understanding of indirect cost rate structures, including fringe, overhead, and G&A, and support rate calculations and analysisSupport contract billing processes, including cost plus, time and materials, and fixed price invoicing, ensuring accuracy and complianceReview and track labor, subcontractor, procurement, and other direct costs to ensure alignment with project budgets, funding, and ceilingsAssist with maintaining accurate timekeeping and labor distribution in accordance with DCAA requirementsMonitor contract funding, ceilings, and expenditures to ensure projects remain within scope and budgetSupport incurred cost submissions and provide documentation for audit readiness, including DCAA and DCMA reviewsSupport contract closeout activities, ensuring financial reconciliation and compliance with contract requirementsSupport adherence to internal controls, policies, and ethical financial practices across project and accounting activitiesPrepare financial reports, program reviews, and ad hoc analysis for internal leadership and external stakeholdersSupport estimating and proposal preparation activities, including cost inputs and pricing supportCollaborate with accounting and finance teams on general ledger alignment and month end close activities. Support project setup, billing, and financial reportingAssist in maintaining and improving project control processes, tools, and reporting standardsCostpoint And Systems ResponsibilitiesSupport and work within Deltek Costpoint across modules including General Ledger, Projects, Billing, Payroll, and Time and ExpenseAssist with project setup, billing structures, and chart of accounts alignment to ensure compliance and accurate financial trackingUnderstand how Costpoint supports DCAA compliance requirements and ensure data integrity across systemsPartner with accounting and finance teams to maintain consistency between project financials and system reportingRequirementsExperience and QualificationsExperience supporting financial management in a government contracting environmentStrong understanding of project or program control, budgeting, and financial forecastingHands on experience with Deltek Costpoint requiredExtensive hands on Excel experience required, including advanced data analysis, financial modeling, and managing large, complex datasets in a government contracting environmentKnowledge of FAR Part 31, CAS, and DCAA requirementsExperience with job costing, indirect rate structures, and contract billingFamiliarity with cost reimbursable, time and materials, and fixed price contractsStrong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracyAbility to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights to program and leadership teamsStrong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departmentsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferredPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting DoD or federal agency contractsPrior exposure to DCAA or DCMA audits or reviewsExperience supporting pricing, proposals, or cost estimatesRelated certifications is a plus, but not required
