Monticello Community Center Guest Service AssociateThe City of Monticello is currently accepting applications for part-time guest service associates to work nights and weekends at the Monticello Community Center. Previous customer service experience is preferred but not required. The City of Monticello offers excellent part-time benefits including a free single or discounted family membership to the facility and premium pay between $1-$3/hr for anyone working more than 20 hours per 2-week period.General Statement of DutiesPerforms routine to semi-skilled customer service, scheduling and receptionist work for the Community Center front desk; perform other duties as required.Supervision RequiredWorks under the technical supervision of the Facility Lead; receives general oversight from the Assistant Recreation Manager. Supervision Exercised: NoneResponsibilitiesThe listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in this class. Duties may vary somewhat.Provides quality customer service to all those visiting or using the services of the community center, including member and guest check-in.Sells community center memberships and registers users for a variety of programs.Handles customer concerns, injuries or other issues until a Manager or Facility Lead is available.Monitors the building by walking through to ensure appropriate facility use, customer payment for facility, etc.Cleans the front desk and concession area and adjacent hallway; performs less routine cleaning during down times.Stocks, prepares and sells concession items.Operates the cash registers for all financial transactions and balances the register at the end of the shift.Answers telephones, takes messages, provides information and assistance to callers.Prepares and cleans the birthday party room and provides general assistance to the renter.Assists with other rental spaces at MCC with direction from supervisors.May perform light typing, word processing and filing as assigned.Performs other duties as needed or assigned.Miscellaneous*Working knowledge of community center's check-in and program registration software. *Working knowledge of community center's programs and activities. *Working knowledge of cash register operation and cash handling procedures. *Considerable ability to provide high quality of customer service at all times to provide and maintain a positive, welcoming environment. *Considerable ability to operate a computer with community center software (after training). *Working ability to follow verbal and written direction and to maintain productivity when working independently. *Working ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions and dealing with a variety of situations at the community center. WORK ENVIRONMENT Duties are performed in an indoor public facility. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE JOB Ability to lift up to 30 pounds from the floor to shoulder height. Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and occasionally kneel to perform the normal duties of the position. Ability to use fine motor skills to operate the computer, cash register, and other equipment and tools.Minimum and Preferred QualificationsPrevious customer service experience preferred but not required.
