Quality Assurance Specialist - NSLP

It's a great feeling to work for a company that does so much good for others around the world!Academic Req: Required – Associates Degree from an accredited Culinary Arts School and 1-2 years of experience in National School Lunch Program Certifications: First aid, CPR, Emergency behavior interventionWork experience: Required – 1 plus years related experience and/or training Preferred – 2 plus years related experience and/or training Full-TimeCritical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables: Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position. Supervise NSLP Coordinators including making quarterly site visits to locations participating in the National School Lunch Program. Assess food surveys quarterly and report results to NSLP Director. Monitor meal plans for each location to ensure that each site follows the daily menu and accurately documents any change to the menu. Work cooperatively with the State’s Agriculture Department Nutrition Division and effectively communicate with food vendors to order food supplies and for all expenses. Conduct quarterly service population food surveys and adjust the menus as appropriate. Check meal orders for accuracy and compliance on monthly basis. Implement Compass Connections safety protocols in case of an emergency. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of child and program operations. Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in Compass Connections employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, clients, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times. The candidate must be capable of independent travel to programs across United States.Other Responsibilities: Customer Service: a. Assist in implementation agency wide customer driven philosophy of that focuses on value and satisfaction Program Accountability: Assist the NSLP Director and ensures CNP compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies to include Compass Connections policy and procedures Assist NSLP Director with State’s NSLP claims monthly Provides culinary training and assist with Annual NSLP training for program foodservice personnel, program directors, and other support staff for all programs in the United States Assist in development of guidelines for providing services in response to disaster or emergency situations. Extensive travel from one location to another in the United States Meet all deadlines required by NSLP Director Nutrition and Menu Planning: Collaborates with Food and Nutrition Specialist in developing cost-effective menus that maintain nutrition integrity and meet all local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations. The chef will work with Food and Nutrition Specialist in development and implementation of scratch cooking initiative for Compass Connections with focus on South American and Middle Eastern cuisine. Collaborates in development of cycle menus that meet meal pattern requirements for all programs Prepare and cook food as per recipes and production records Chef will work with food service supervisors on food quality Conduct taste test with students from all programs in United States Oversee special events for Compass Connections like Thanksgiving, Christmas, BBQ and Junior Chef recipe competition Conduct nutrient analysis to ensure menus are compliant and meet all local, state, and federal regulations Maintain and utilize MealsPlus Back of House (BOH) menu planning system to generate ingredients, recipes, menus, nutrient analysis, and production records Engage in recipe development, product research and taste tests Secure, review, and maintain record of all product labels including whole grain, CN or Product Formulation Statement and food labels Maintain thorough knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Programs Communicate with program directors, nurses, and food service staff to receive clarity information contained on medical meal accommodations and dietary meals specifically for allergies. Compile documentation for yearly administrative reviews including food labels, recipes, menus, dietary accommodation documentation and production records Assesses student preferences, trends, cultural and religious needs, and current research to plan menus that encourage participation in the CNP. Works with program staff, teachers, parents, and physicians to plan menus for children with special nutrition needs. Food Production and Production Records: Develop and implement procedures to ensure the food production system provides safe nutritious food of high quality. Quality Assurance visits that ensure operational procedures for efficient and effective food production and distribution. Develops production records that meet all local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations Procurement: Implements a cost-effective procurement system. Develops purchasing guidelines to ensure purchased food and supplies reflect product knowledge, student preferences, program needs, policies, and nutrition objectives. Establishes standards for receiving storing, and inventorying food and non-food supplies based on sound principles of management.Requirements: Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks. Demonstrate the ability to: Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics. Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals. Provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment. Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures.
