Primary Care Physician (PCP)
AvaMed Workforce is a Healthcare Staffing Agency that staffs all of California State Correctional Facilities. We urgently need a Primary Care Physician for a part‑time assignment at the correctional facility located in Blythe, CA. We also have open positions at different facilities.
Position Details (Multiple Openings)
20–24 Hours per week
Location: Blythe, CA
Schedule: Rotating schedule – First week Monday/Tuesday 8:00am‑4:00pm, Second week Monday‑Wednesday 8:00am‑4:00pm
Orientation: 2 weeks
Duration: 6 months
Rate: $220/hr ($4,400–$5,280/week)
Weekly pay as an Independent Contractor (1099)
Qualifications
Valid Physician license issued by the Medical Board/Osteopathic Board of California
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
DEA certification
Active credentialing status
Job Description
Under the direction of the institution/facility designee, the Temporary/Relief Primary Care Physician shall provide services as permitted within the scope of practice for primary care physician services in accordance with institution/facility policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Provide high‑quality medical care to patients/youth of the State of California in compliance with established standards and principles of medical practice.
Adhere to medical staff by‑laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and comply with universal infection control precautions.
Obtain prior authorization in writing for non‑emergency services, specialty treatments, referrals, or diagnostic procedures as required.
Determine transportation and transfer of patients with full authority, ensuring written authorization for any transfer.
Refrain from performing or administering experimental or investigational treatments unless authorized.
Limit services to those recognized as safe and effective, following professional medical standards and the Medical Standards of Care.
Participate in clinical reviews to assess quality of care, including reviews of index cases, and prepare written clinical review documents.
Maintain and keep on file a copy of the formulary and prescribe medications only from it unless prior authorization is obtained.
Exclusions and Limitations
Do not provide services for conditions listed in California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 15, Division 3, Chapter 1, Subchapter 4, Article 8, Section 3350.1, unless an exception is approved.
Provide treatment for pre‑existing conditions only if they become aggravated and pose a significant threat to the patient’s health.
