Area Manager-Supply Chain - (2nd Shift) - Elwood, IL
The Area Manager supervises associates and manages the day to day operations of an assigned area within a distribution center. The position achieves results (operation, financial & service results) through directing and supporting the activities of Associates who perform various distribution center operating functions.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Select, orient, train, coach, counsel and discipline AssociatesEducate and develop Associates to increase their capabilities and job performance as well as to follow and maintain established company, federal, state and local policies and proceduresEnsure associates attend all training/cross-training on the day and time scheduled and otherwise ensure 100% compliance with equipment operator and cross-training goalsSchedule departmental trainers for new hire orientation and new hire on the job trainingCommunicate values, strategies, objectives, and assigning accountabilitiesMaintain positive and productive continuity with each Associate and their work teamsInitiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between departmentsCreate a climate of openness, trust and respect for each AssociatePlan, monitor, appraise, and manage performance resultsEnforce systems, policies, procedures and productivity standards and ensure corrective actions are administered for all violations and then submitted to HR for record keeping as well as work with temporary staffing service onsite management to ensure temporary associates similarly held accountableInvestigate all equipment incidents and document Incident Reports as well as schedule all Situational Management meetings and implement all countermeasures and corrective actions in a timely mannerMaintain and keep accurate staff attendance, vacation, personal time off, sickness, funeral, and other attendance standardsManage operation to meet the financial targets and assigned service levels assignedIdentify and explain budget & service level variances, identify corrective actionsEvaluate & recommend process changes to improve efficiencies, safety, etc.Establish daily and weekly priorities and production plansSchedule Associates and assigning work as well as monitor and revise schedules and workResearch, compile, initiate, sort and analyze production performance records and dataResolve and report production issuesEnsure the work environment is maintained in a clean & safe status Report and respond to any unsafe and unclean work environments and violationsEnsure associates have the proper tools to perform their dutiesEnsure equipment is maintained, identify needed repairs and ensure that equipment gets repaired in a timely mannerEnsure Associates are properly trained & certified to operate equipmentEvaluate new equipment and techniques for process improvementsInitiate, lead and participate in special projectsBe open to new ideas and ways to achieve resultsDemonstrate a willingness to learn other areas of the distribution center operationsDevelop managerial and leadership competencies by participating in all company-sponsored education workshops and leadership development training, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional organizationsRegular attendance is an essential function of the jobAdditional duties as assigned by manager Scope:Supervisory ResponsibilityDirect: Non-Exempt EmployeesThe anticipated salary range for this position is $85,000 – $97,750 depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition, we offer comprehensive and competitive benefits to Associates (and their families) such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability. Eligible Associates are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Associates will accrue paid time off up to 200 hours per year (inclusive of PTO, floating holidays, and paid holidays). Paid sick time up to 80 hours per year unless otherwise required by law.
