Medical Assistant/Obstetrics Job title: Medical Assistant/ObstetricsStatus: Regular, Full-timeReports to: Clinic ManagerPay Range: $23-$28Department: MedicalPay Type: HourlyLevel: Non-managerRevised: 3/12/26Job purpose: The Medical Assistant/Obstetrics is responsible for providing administrative and medical support to ensure efficient operation of the Women's Health department. The OB Medical Assistant provides professional clinical care for patients following established standards and practices.Duties and responsibilities:Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during treatment/procedures, examinations, and testing of patients.Procedures include: pelvic exams, Pap smears, and IUD insertions. Along with prenatal exams and ultrasounds.Prepare, restock, and sterilize examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area and all other patient care areas per established policies and procedures.Record patients; medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint.Measure, record, and document vital signs, to monitor the health of both the mother and fetus.Where applicable, perform phlebotomy, injections and other specimen collection per established policies and procedures as directed by the provider.This includes collection samples for laboratory tests, such as urine tests or blood draws, and perform routine tests like pregnancy tests or STI screenings.Educate patients by providing information and instructions as directed by the provider. Including educating patients on maternal health issues, prenatal care, and general hygiene.Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.Sterilize medical instruments per established standards and procedures.Relay messages from patients and front office staff to providers.Represent the office in a professional manner. Treat all customers, internal and external, in a courteous and cooperative manner.Attend required meetingsCompliance with all HIPAA rules, regulations, and guidelines.Perform other duties as needed or assigned.Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Experience:High school graduate or equivalentGraduate from an approved Medical Assisting programAt least one (1) year of experienceBasic Life Support (BLS) certificationKnowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminologyCurrent demonstrated clinical proficiencyExcellent attention to detailAbility to lift and move patients as necessaryStrong ethical standards and professionalismAbility to follow instructions and protocols accuratelyPossess or can master Microsoft Office Platforms, E-Clinical Works Electronic Medical Record.Strong written and verbal communications skills.Working conditions:Prolonged periods standing, walking, and/or sitting at a desk and working on a computer may be required.
