The Coordinator is responsible for working with campus personnel to provide appropriate programs for all Special Education students on the campus. The Coordinator is also responsible for leadership of assigned special education programs for staff and program development purposes.Employee Medical Coverage starting at $30/ monthEmployee & Dependent Coverage starting at $343/ monthOptional Add-On Benefits such as Dental, Vision, and DisabilityLeave Benefits, personal leave and sick leave daysMaster's degree in a special education area or a related area preferredT-Tess appraiser certifiedSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of Special Education laws, state and federal (rules and regulations)Knowledge of other special populations (OSP) and results driven accountability (RDA)Strong ability to communicate orally and in writingAbility to coordinate special education programsVast knowledge and experience with behavior management and intervention strategiesExperience:Three years experience working within special education or school administration is preferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Serve as an instructional leader, consultant, and support for the teachers and students on the campuses and in the program areasFacilitate least restrictive environment placement of students withProvide follow-up to special education placements including planning and implementation of related services, adaptive equipment, instructional materials and recordProvide program development, implementation, and programProvide leadership in the development and implementation of curriculum and instruction for students with special educationWork with the Director of Special Services in planning and providing inservice training and staff development for general education and special educationPrepare and submit staff development budgets for various program areas.Interview special education applicants and, in coordination with the campus administrators, recommend to hire personnel according to district policies andDocument visits to classrooms on a regular basis to observe the teacher/student interaction in order to identify and make recommendations in areas needingAssist in the evaluation of teachers/assistants in the special education programs in their schools and evaluate staffMonitor and ensure all student files meet compliance standards of the Texas EducationReview and revise department policies and procedures annually to ensure compliance with local, state and federalCollaborate with other district department, leadership to provide input with regards to specialParticipate in ARD meetings as needed, monitor the appropriate development of IEPs for quality programming, and follow-up to ensure compliance with theCoordinate transition services of children from home to school environment, from one educational program to another, and from high school to higher education or successful job placement, or to other agencyServe as a conflict mediator/problem solver in crisis situations concerning program, placement, and behavior ofAdvise campus administration regarding appropriate scheduling of students, maximum usage of staff, utilization of facilities, appropriate to materials and equipment selection, and PEIMSAnalyze campus/district data and prepare reports for campus and department program Assist in analyzing and disseminating state and federal accountability results.
