Job Description SummaryAs an Assistant Teacher at New Beginnings Early Learning Center, you'll work alongside our Head Teachers to create warm, engaging classrooms where young children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. You'll help implement developmentally appropriate activities grounded in Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS), support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth, and play a hands-on role in the daily life of the classroom. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about early childhood who is building their career in the field -- and we're committed to helping you grow.DutiesClassroom SupportAssist Head Teacher in implementing daily activities, lessons, and learning center preparationSupport children's engagement during small group instruction, transitions, and routinesHelp supervise children during indoor and outdoor playSupport implementation of CT ELDS in daily classroom activitiesStudent Care and DevelopmentSupport children's social-emotional development and positive peer interactionsAssist children with self-help skills, personal care routines, and toilet training in partnership with familiesSupport development of fine and gross motor skillsAssist with mealtime routines, healthy eating habits, and hygiene practicesHealth and SafetyMaintain clean and sanitized indoor and outdoor learning environmentsFollow proper health, safety, and food handling protocolsAssist with daily health checks and report safety concerns to Head Teacher or administrationFollow proper procedures for diapering and toiletingDocumentation and CommunicationAssist with daily documentation, attendance records, and DOTS assessment supportCommunicate children's daily activities to families at pickup and drop-offShare developmental observations with Head TeacherDocument accidents or incidents as required and maintain confidentiality regarding children and familiesRequirementsCandidates must meet one of the following credential pathways:Current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential issued by the Council for Professional RecognitionCDA equivalent as defined by NAEYC -- at least 12 college credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or early childhood special educationAssociate's degree (AA) in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or early childhood special educationAA equivalency as defined by NAEYC -- at least 60 college credits with a minimum of 30 credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or early childhood special educationHigh school diploma or equivalent -- must earn a CDA or enroll in an accredited ECE degree program within the first year of employmentPreferred Skills and ExperienceStrong understanding of child development principlesStrong oral and written communication skillsInfant/child CPR and First Aid certificationAbility to collaborate effectively as part of a teaching teamRequirementsMust successfully clear a full background checkMust pass required health screeningNice To HavesExperience with Brightwheel or similar childcare management softwareProficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft OfficeBenefitsCompetitive salary commensurate with education and experienceComprehensive benefits package (if applicable to position type)Professional development support and tuition assistance opportunitiesPositive, supportive work environment with growth opportunities
