Medical Lab Tech - OPT - Laboratory Services

Job Summary The Medical Laboratory Tech performs a wide range of laboratory testing procedures—including hematology, coagulation, chemistry, blood bank, urinalysis, serology, immunology, microbiology, and phlebotomy—in a prompt, accurate, and reliable manner, in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. This role assists department supervisors with daily operational issues, supports the implementation of new methodologies, develops procedural protocols, and provides training to laboratory personnel on new instrumentation and processes. The position actively participates in Performance Improvement (PI) activities and contributes to ensuring the laboratory maintains compliance with CAP, CLIA, and DNV-GL accreditation standards. The incumbent exercises independent judgment and problem-solving skills in the course of daily duties and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and accrediting agency regulations and standards. Qualifications Education: Associate of Science degree with a major in Medical Laboratory Technology. Certification: Successful completion of internship and MLT registry examination or registry-eligible. Must possess a nationally recognized certification such as MLT (ASCP) or equivalent. Experience: Clinical experience gained through internship or practicum sufficient to meet registry eligibility requirements. Skills: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Basic computer proficiency preferred. Ability to function effectively as part of a team to ensure high-quality patient care.
