Stepdown Registered Nurse | Kings Mountain, North Carolina

Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.Provide advanced nursing care in a dynamic Progressive Care Unit (PCU) environment, supporting patients with diverse and complex medical needs. With accessible parks, local dining, and a rich history, it offers a comfortable lifestyle for healthcare professionals seeking a balanced work-life experience.ResponsibilitiesDeliver essential nursing functions including monitoring and management of patients with stroke, pneumonia, cellulitis, failure to thrive, altered mental status, chest pain, atrial fibrillation, COPD, and more.Manage cardiac rhythms, tracheostomies, chest tubes, wound care, blood products, and central lines proficiently.Collaborate closely with CNAs, receptionists, charge nurses, phlebotomists, IV/vascular access teams, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists.Utilize EPIC EMR and equipment such as Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillips telemetry, and unit-specific fall prevention and positioning tools.Float within the regional network as required, including to facilities in the Cleveland, Lincoln, and Central Division areas.Participate in weekend rotations every other week, with no on-call duties and 75% holiday shift coverage.Desired Experience And QualificationsCurrent RN licensure with BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications.Minimum of 18 months progressive care nursing experience preferred; first-time travelers will be considered.Strong skills in teamwork, communication, and critical care nursing functions.Experience with telemetry, cardiac drip management, and interpreting cardiac rhythms.Schedule & Shift Details12-hour shifts, either 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM.Weekend rotation every other weekend.Orientation includes a 2-day department-specific onboarding.Travelers receive paid time during mid-shift float travel between facilities.Additional Benefits & PerksFree parking on-site.Supportive work culture valuing teamwork and patient experience.Opportunity to extend contract with RTO flexibility (up to 6 days off excluding holidays, with contracted hours extension).This contract role requires flexibility, commitment, and a passion for delivering exceptional PCU care.
