Description
• Participate as an ENGINEER IN TRAINING in a variety of large and small whole building and building component
projects that range across most market sectors, building occupancies, and material types throughout the U.S.
Assist MBJ structural engineering design and modeling teams in an exciting, supportive, and fast-paced
environment from project conception through design and construction, including site inspections
Work with outside design team members including architects, contractors, and owners, to coordinate and expedite
effective delivery of integrated project delivery (IPD), design/build (D/B), and traditional bid projects
Routinely meet complex, and often unique, engineering challenges with effective solutions delivered professionally,
reliably, and with a strong commitment to client success
Perform engineering design calculations by hand and using structural 2D and 3D structural analysis
software
Required Qualifications
• Academics: B.S. or M.S. degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with a focus in structural engineering design with
steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and lateral load resisting systems
License: EIT – Ability to be professionally licensed as a professional and/or structural engineer in 4 years or less
Experience: 1-4 years
Desired Qualifications
• Fluent in MS Office suite and familiar with analytical software packages such as RAM, RISA, Enercalc and Mathcad
Familiar with current design and material codes (IBC, ACI, AISC, NDS, etc.)
Familiar with structural systems and their detailing for typical structural materials including soils, concrete, steel,
masonry, and wood
Ability to work on construction sites and work off-hours when required
Become licensed as an S.E. in the future
