Fiber Splicer — BICSI Certified San Antonio, TX (On-site) | ContractAbout the OpportunityProvide is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Splicer for a government contract opportunity in San Antonio, TX. This is a contract position supporting critical infrastructure work in a federal/government environment. You'll be hands-on from day one — splicing, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic systems to the highest standards required for government projects.Candidates must be able to pass a government background check and meet all applicable security requirements prior to starting.What You'll DoPerform fusion and mechanical splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cable on government facilities and infrastructureRead and interpret fiber optic blueprints, schematics, and splice plansConduct OTDR testing, light source/power meter testing, and end-face inspectionTroubleshoot and restore fiber optic links, identifying faults and completing repairsMaintain accurate splice records, test documentation, and as-built drawings in compliance with government project requirementsFollow all site-specific safety protocols, OSHA standards, and government facility rulesCoordinate with project managers, engineers, and other trades on siteEnsure all work meets ANSI/TIA and government contract specificationsWhat We're Looking ForRequiredBICSI certification (Installer Level 2 or higher required)3+ years of hands-on fiber splicing experienceExperience working on government, federal, or military projects strongly preferredProficiency with fusion splicers (Fujikura, Sumitomo, or equivalent)Experience with OTDR equipment and fiber testing toolsAbility to read technical drawings and splice documentationMust be able to pass a government background check and meet security clearance requirementsValid driver's licenseAbility to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying conditionsPreferredActive security clearance (Secret or higher)OSP (Outside Plant) and ISP (Inside Plant) experienceOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certificationFamiliarity with government contracting standards and compliance requirementsWho You AreYou're a technician who knows that fiber work lives and dies by the details.
