Electrical Engineer, Level 4
Overview
In this role, you will own the electrical design of Spectacles hardware, from schematic and component selection to final deliverables. You will work on complex SOCs, PMICs, Wireless ICs, and battery-powered sensors for consumer devices. You’ll lead design reviews, supervise PCB/Flex/Rigid‑Flex layouts, and debug hardware across cross-functional teams. You will test, validate, and document electrical systems, while developing prototypes and supporting external manufacturers. This is a hands-on, cross-disciplinary opportunity to shape next-gen AR wearables at Snap.

ResponsibilitiesOwn schematic design and stackup definition for boards from concept to deliverableDesign in complex SOCs, PMICs, Wireless ICs and sensors for low-power consumer electronicsLead and contribute to technical design reviewsSupervise and review PCB, Flex, and Rigid-Flex layoutsDebug hardware issues across cross-functional teams (desense, power states, SI, ESD, EMI)Test and validate board and system level electrical designsCollaborate with mechanical, software, RF, thermal, and industrial design teamsAuthor clear electrical test documentationDevelop electronic prototypes for new conceptsSupport development builds onsite at external contract manufacturersTravel internationally up to 20%
Key requirementsStrong electrical engineering fundamentalsExperience in electronic design including component selection and schematic captureProficiency in battery-operated systems, chargers, fuel gauges, battery protectionExperience with USB, I2C/I3C, SPI, UART, MIPI, SWD, and PCIe interfacesKnowledge of layout strategies for power delivery, EMI mitigation, SI, and high-speed signalsExperience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, battery simulators, logic analyzers, thermal chambers)Excellent interpersonal skills and cross-group collaborationBS/BA in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience3+ years post‑Bachelor’s electrical/hardware experience; or Master’s +2 years; or PhD in a technical fieldPreferred: MS in Electrical Engineering; production-scale consumer devices; Cadence Orcad/Allegro; overseas manufacturingExperience in failure analysis with external vendorsExperience navigating overseas manufacturingcollaboration across groupsclear written and visual communicationproblem-solvingschematic design and capturelayout design for PCB/Flex/Rigid-Flexbattery management (chargers, fuel gauges, protection)
