Our veterinarians help pets and their parents with quality of life assessments, pain and anxiety management, end-of-life consultations, and peaceful euthanasia in the comfort of their pet's favorite place - home.Position DescriptionLap of Love Veterinary Hospice, headquartered in Lutz, FL., seeks to add a key member to its growing team by employing a dynamic Payroll Specialist to support our Accounting and Finance department. This individual will play an instrumental role in Lap of Love's day-to-day operations by processing payroll for multiple entities while providing support for payroll related processes. This individual will also understand payroll cycle accounting and the relationship to month end close, journal entries, and accruals. An ideal Payroll Specialist candidate will be proficient in multi-state and multi-company payroll concepts such as differentiation of regular, overtime, international, and paid time off hours.RequirementsEssential Functions and Responsibilities:Assist in full cycle accounting - journal entries, month end closeProcess semi-monthly and weekly payroll for multiple entitiesCompute monthly and quarterly bonuses for multiple entitiesCompile all payroll data ensuring deductions for benefits, taxes, garnishments, etcProcess involuntary deductions such as: child support orders, garnishments and tax leviesResolve or escalate payroll issues to ensure timely processing and verify compliance with applicable state, federal, and local laws as well as regulatory reporting guidelinesPrepare, generate and print checks and direct deposit adviceScan, file and maintain all payroll documentation and employees' payroll recordsComplete requests for wage and employment verificationsCreate, develop, and update payroll training materials, presentations, and literatureAssist with implementing changes, streamlining processes, and process improvementsCreate and design associated spreadsheetsMaintain PTO policies, balances, accruals, and assist in PTO auditsExperience, Education and Requirements: At least 2 years experience in processing payroll for a multi-state organization requiredAdvanced skills in Excel including Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, and importing and exporting data requiredKnowledge and experience with Paylocity and/or Dayforce preferredStrong knowledge of payroll regulations and compliance laws and policiesStrong organizational skills with high attention to detailExcellent attention to detail and analytical abilitiesStrong and professional interpersonal skillsStrong ethics and a high level of personal and professional integrityExcellent follow-up skillsTop notch oral and written communication skillsAbility to handle multiple tasks with limited supervisionAble to multitask effectivelyAbility to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environmentProficiency using Microsoft Office 365Physical and Other Job Requirements: Able to sit for prolonged periods of time of up to 8 hours per dayAble to frequently communicate by telephone and through use of computer technologies, including but not limited to email and video conferencingPossess manual dexterity, fine motor skills, and the ability to operate a computer, read a computer screen and type on a keyboard for prolonged periods of time of up to 8 hours per dayAble to multitask using multiple computer tabs/platforms while engaging in conversationAverage or above average working knowledge of computers, email, video conferencing technologies, and digital medical recordsAble to quickly learn custom software and other programs, such as Zoom, Sunshine, and Google SuiteAverage or above average working knowledge of the internet and scheduling and communications applications and software, such as Gmail, Google Calendar, and web-based communication platformsAccess to reliable and secure internetMaintain confidentiality of all employee and business informationComply with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelinesThis job posting is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties, but it aims to highlight the typical main responsibilities of the position.
