Process Engineer II

Overview The Process Engineering II will analyze processes and use best practices to plan, develop, budget and execute improvement initiatives which will reduce costs and improve safety and quality, resulting in enhanced customer service support and increased profitability. This role will be supporting multiple manufacturing facilities and will have interface with outside commercial customers. This position will rotate on a periodic basis (12 – 18 months) thru multiple manufacturing and commercial sites. Responsibilities Applying engineering techniques to analyze and assist in the improvement of manufacturing process and products in coordination and in support of HWI’s Lean and HBS (HarbisonWalker Business System) efforts; improve efficiency, minimize inconsistencies, avoid waste and reduce downtime to drive improvements in OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) Leading, facilitating, executing, and managing projects (process and capital) to reduce costs and improve the customer experience by implementing engineering best practices incorporating Lean/Six Sigma tools and methodologies; conducting periodic reviews to ensure that the projects achieve the desired results stated in the justification Working with Operations to develop best practices and standard work to solve manufacturing problems, initiate productivity improvements, drive maintenance excellence initiatives, and identify future opportunities for the overall continual improvement of the plant; review plants KPI monitoring systems and determine ways to improve their ability to meet or exceed company initiatives/goals Preparing, with management guidance, accurate expenditure proposals and/or cost justification analysis; presenting findings to appropriate plant and corporate management Assembling reports to document process status and changes Training, providing instructions, systems, and consultation to site production, maintenance, and engineering personnel to support technical development and assure integration of programs for efficient operation to drive continuous improvement Requires B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) Requires motivation and ingenuity Requires excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including presentation planning and delivery skills; ability to communicate across all levels of the organization Requires computer operation skills including, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel and PowerPoint expertise and AutoCAD engineering software Requires knowledge of ISO 9001 and similar achievement standards Requires strong strategic thinking and business problem solving skills; the ability to lead change initiatives and drive process excellence Requires coaching skills with front line employees and supervisors/managers; the ability to lead change initiatives and drive process excellence Requires relationship building and change management skills Requires ability to make a significant change in a variety of environments, with multiple learning experiences Requires experience with data analysis, operations management and business intelligence tools Requires strong collaboration, interpersonal, communications and leadership skills and a demonstrated track record of making improvements that benefit the organizational results and customer Qualifications Requirements include a B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) Requires motivation and ingenuity; excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel and PowerPoint) and AutoCAD Requires knowledge of ISO 9001 and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma) Requires strong problem-solving, teamwork, and cross-functional collaboration abilities Physical and Environmental Requirements Physical Activity : Requires 1/3 to 2/3 of time sitting and/or speaking/hearing; less than 1/3 of time standing, walking, using hands and fingers, reaching Lifting : Lifting up to 50 pounds less than 1/3 of time Vision : Accurate close and distance vision Environment : 1/3 to 2/3 of time in an office setting; 1/3 to 2/3 of time near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, and/or vibration Noise : Working in quiet conditions About Us HWI is the largest supplier of refractory products and services in the United States. #J-18808-Ljbffr
