Accounts Receivable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join a team in Wilmington, North Carolina on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent role. This opportunity is ideal for someone who can step in quickly, manage day-to-day receivables activity with minimal ramp-up time, and support accurate financial operations from the start. The position focuses on billing, cash application, account follow-up, and maintaining organized records in a fast-paced environment.Responsibilities:- Manage invoicing activities and ensure customer billing is issued accurately and on schedule.- Apply incoming payments, reconcile cash activity, and maintain precise accounts receivable records.- Monitor outstanding balances and conduct timely follow-up with customers to resolve past-due accounts.- Investigate payment discrepancies and partner with internal contacts to correct account issues efficiently.- Maintain documentation and reporting related to receivables activity to support financial accuracy and visibility.- Use Veracross Axiom to process receivables transactions and keep account information current.- Contribute to a smooth transition of responsibilities by taking ownership of core receivables functions with limited oversight. Requirements - Hands-on experience in accounts receivable, including billing and payment posting.- Working knowledge of cash application, account reconciliation, and commercial collections practices.- Ability to begin contributing quickly and manage responsibilities independently.- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.- Experience using financial or school administration platforms; familiarity with Veracross Axiom is preferred.- Background in an educational or school-based environment is a plus.- Effective communication skills for following up on account matters with professionalism.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
