We are seeking an enthusiastic bibliophile who wants to join our small, dedicated team of literary enthusiasts!Godmothers is a local bookstore with a global dream, serving as a community gathering place and event venue that transcends the traditional definition of bookshop. Godmothers will feature unique readings and performances, anchored by meticulously selected titles from both established and emerging writers and thought leaders. With its welcoming and knowledgeable staff and historic location,Godmothers aims to be the beating heart of our beachside community with events that bring people together and ignite cultural conversations far and wide.This part-time bookseller will spend most of their time on the sales floor helping readers connect with their next favorite book. There will also be time spent on receiving, returns, special projects and day-to-day operational tasks.The job requires that the bookseller help the store run efficiently and provide extraordinary customer service.Responsibilities● Work the sales floor engaging customers and providing helpful information or recommendations.● Manage all in-store inquiries.● Operate the cash register and store computer to accept payments, place orders, make change adhering to safe cash handling procedures including balancing cash drawer and preparing bank deposits.● Stock shelves and take inventory per store schedule.● Fulfill special orders● Visit the post office as needed● Generate local partnership ideas and creative marketing strategies to contribute to online sales.● Provide general store cleaning that could include: vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and dusting and straightening shelves, displays, and register areas.● Execute merchandising standards, promotion standards, creating displays, etc.Qualifications● Associate's Degree or equivalent is preferred● 1 - 3 years retail or bookstore experience preferred● General Computer Skills required● Ability to work in fast paced retail environment● Effective verbal and written communication● Friendly and engaging personality● Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift boxes up to 40 lbs● Ability to maneuver several flights of stairs over the course of 8-hour shifts● Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as needed to meet the needs of the business.
