Adjunct Faculty - MillwrightBaton Rouge Community College (BRCC)Baton Rouge, LouisianaBuilding Trade Expertise, Creating Pathways to Skilled Careers and Workforce SuccessBaton Rouge Community College (BRCC) is seeking to fill the part-time position of Adjunct Faculty - Millwright in the Division of Technical Education. Adjunct faculty members are responsible for teaching courses as assigned and may be required to teach in the evenings, on weekends, online, or in dual enrollment settings, as needed. Faculty are expected to support the institution's mission and vision and to abide by the Faculty Handbook and college-wide policies. Adjunct faculty are also expected to maintain currency in their teaching discipline. Adjunct faculty report directly to the Academic Program Manager and/or Department Chair within their respective departments and divisions.Key ResponsibilitiesI.Teaching: 75%Provide learning experiences in accordance with students' needs and abilitiesUse learning resources to help students learnAssess student learning in accordance with college policyProvide each student with a course syllabus and scheduleMaintain a minimum of 10 office hours per weekMeet all scheduled classes within the appropriate timeframeAdvise students and assist with registration, orientation, and recruitment as neededFollow the approved master course syllabiMaintain accurate grade and attendance recordsSubmit syllabi, office hours, grades, attendance, electronic time sheets, and other reports by established deadlinesAssure that all Industry Based Certification (IBC) and accreditation requirements are maintainedMaintain current AWS and/or NCCER certificationsII. Administrative: 10%Notify dean/department chair of absence with course substitution plan in a timely manner.Attend all departmental, division, and general faculty meetingsAttend convocations and participate in graduation exercise (attired in appropriate academic regalia)Adhere to professional standards of conductParticipate in the faculty evaluation processIII. Service: 5%* Contribute to the college and your discipline by collaborating with others and offering your service to the college* Represent BRCC and actively engage the community's business and industryIV. Professional Development: 5%* Engage in continual professional development activities as it relates to pedagogy, assessment, and faculty area of expertiseV: Other Duties as Assigned: 5%Minimum QualificationsExperience* 3 years of relevant experienceKnowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesAdvanced:Written and oral communication skills presenting ideas effectively to individuals/groups.Ability to work well with others at all levels of the organization interacting in a way that inspires trust, confidence, and integrity.Interpersonal skills to handle any student concernsProficient:Organizational skillsWorking knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.Ability to convey knowledge and skills to students conveying ideas and facts concisely and accurately.Basic:* MechanicalPreferred ExperiencePrevious teaching experience preferred.Applicants must possess at least 3 years of Electrical experience as well as industry-based certifications.The preferred applicant may possess an Associate Degree in any field or be committed to an educational program of study leading to an Associate Degree or higher.Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Dynamic reading skills and speaking voice requiredMust be able to generate class materials, reports and master the operation and skills required to maximize the productivity through best practices and planning.Must have excellent leadership, communication, critical thinking, teamwork skills, and be willing to think outside of the box.Must have an equivalent combination of education, training and on the job experiences to provide students with the knowledge and skills to become successful technicians.Higher Education teaching experienceProvide subject matter expertise and counselBenefits: As a member of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, BRCC has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
