We are looking for a technically proficient and customer-centric Field Application Engineer (FAE) to serve as the primary technical link between Subinitial and our key accounts. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who enjoys the challenge of translating complex customer needs into scalable technical solutions. This role requires a unique blend of deep engineering knowledge and exceptional communication skills, with a willingness to travel frequently (25-75%) to support our clients on-site and ensure the successful deployment of our test systems.

Job Responsibilities and Tasks
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for key accounts, managing relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction
Travel to customer sites (25-75%) to lead installations, perform commissioning, and provide on-site technical support
Collaborate directly with customers to identify technical needs and design tailored solutions using Subinitial's test architecture
Act as a bridge between the customer and internal engineering teams, translating field requirements into actionable design specifications
Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues in real-time within the customer's environment
Develop and deliver technical training and documentation to help customers maximize the utility of their test racks and software
Support the sales process by providing technical expertise during demonstrations and scoping calls
Provide feedback to the product team to drive continuous improvement of the RackCenter tool and other internal offerings
Document all field activities, including installation reports, issue logs, and customer feedback
Take ownership of the project lifecycle from initial deployment through final customer acceptance
Perform other duties as assigned
Skills
Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-first mentality
Strong technical aptitude in electrical engineering and automated test equipment (ATE)
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both engineers and executives
Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to think on your feet in high-pressure environments
Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining coordination with the home office
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with technical documentation tools
Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems
Willing and eager to learn
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
3+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role (FAE, Systems Engineer, etc) preferred
Due to ITAR and / or CUI compliance, this position requires candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or other U.S. person per 22 CFR § 120.62.
Pay: $95,000 - $160,000 per year
Location: El Cajon, CA (with frequent travel to customer sites)
Hours: Full-time, In-office, Monday through Friday. 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with travel as required. Ability to work extended hours as needed to accommodate customer schedules and time zones.
