In addition, our work strongly focuses on supporting the regional local food system, delivering high-quality nutrition education to the community, and hosting an on-site food-service workforce development program. Over the past 35 years, the agency has provided 13M+ free, scratch-made meals.Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Packaging Associate's main role will be to execute the daily food packaging and sorting required to feed our clients. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.In a combination of individual effort and leading volunteer teams, the PA has to complete a variety of daily tasks including but not limited to:Portioning, packaging and labeling meals and meal componentsSorting and organizing packaged food into the appropriate area and by item typeMonitoring and maintaining product inventory levelsBuilding diet specific bags/boxes for clientsAble to positively engage with and assist volunteers in a taskActively communicate progress and needs to supervisor and team members.Takes responsibility for assigned tasks and ensures their timely completionMaintains organization and cleanliness in work and storage areasChampions teamwork through words and actions and seeks ways to support teammates.Proper product storage/labeling/rotationRTE food handling practicesKnowledge of commercial kitchen equipment use and cleaningDaily maintenance of work and storage areasMonitor temperatures and timing of prepared foodsAble to understand daily production sheetAble to work independently and in teamsAble to work in the dish room as neededOther tasks as assigned.EducationHigh School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.ExperienceExperience working as part of a team.Comfortable interacting with the public.Good communication skills.Physical Demands and Special Work ConditionsThis position requires an individual to have the ability to lift to a maximum of 50 lbs. and includes bending and standing for long periods of time. The incumbent must maintain skills necessary to safely and efficiently operate the following equipment and machines used in the performance of this job: Oliver packaging machine, dishwasher.
