Software Engineer II (3-5 YOE)6-month contract (Potential to extend/convert)Indianapolis, IN – Hybrid (3 days onsite per week) About the Role:Brooksource is seeking a Backend Software Developer to join a fast-paced engineering team focused on building scalable, cloud-native applications that power critical business operations. This role is ideal for a software engineer with 3-5 years of experience developing modern backend systems in AWS, designing event-driven architectures, and delivering secure, high-quality APIs and microservices.Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using C#, .NET 8+, ASP.NET Core, Python, and SQL.Build and support scalable REST APIs and microservices architectures.Develop cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS services including Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, Step Functions, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.Implement event-driven architectures utilizing pub/sub patterns and asynchronous processing workflows.Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production systems using CloudWatch and observability tools.Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes using Azure DevOps and Git-based workflows.Required Qualifications:3-5 years of professional software engineering experience.Strong proficiency in C#, .NET 8+, ASP.NET Core, Python, and SQL.Experience developing REST APIs and microservices.Hands-on experience with AWS services including Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, Step Functions, API Gateway, DynamoDB, IAM, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager.Experience with event-driven systems, distributed systems, and CI/CD practices.Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.Preferred Qualifications:AWS CDK or CloudFormation experience.Mobile Development familiarity and/or hands-on experience with Swift/Kotlin languagesFinancial services or regulated-industry experience.Payment processing knowledge.Dynatrace, LaunchDarkly, or similar monitoring and feature management tools.
