Senior Software Engineer (Backend Development)

We are looking to hire a talented and motivated Senior Software Engineer (Backend Development) to join our growing team!In this role, this individual plays a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining the critical server-side systems that power our applications. This Senior Software Engineer collaborates closely with front-end developers, full-stack engineers, product managers, and designers to bring innovative features to life and ensure a seamless user experience.This Senior Software Engineer is a critical member of CDK’s engineering team, bringing a focus on the behind-the-scenes magic that makes products function. This individual is responsible for building and maintaining the server0side logic that powers these applications.Essential Functions (not limited to):Designing and developing software: Works on the core functionalities of CDK application(s), including features, data processing, and business logicDatabases: Designs, develops, and manages databases to store and organize application data efficientlyAPIs (Application Programming Interfaces): Builds APIs that mediate communication between different parts of an application or even between applicationsServer-side scripting: Writes code using various server-side scripting languages (i.e.: Python, Java, or Ruby) to execute instructions on the serverSecurity: Implements security measures to protect user data and ensures the overall integrity of the applicationPerformance optimization: Optimizes code and server processes to ensure the application runs smoothly and efficientlyRequired Qualification and Attributes:Bachelor’s degree in related field with 5+ years of programming experience or 8+ years of progressive Java programming experience, with an emphasis on backend developmentProgramming and design experience to execute on a project independentlyExperience with large scale systems along with exposure to E2E designProficient with test-driven development and web template technologiesExperience utilizing Agile and Scrum software development methodologiesAbility to document, track and monitor a problem/issue to a timely resolutionKnowledge of operating systemsCollaborative problem-solving ability and self-motivatedStrong verbal and written communication skills along with prioritization of dutiesStrongly Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in related field with 6+ years of programming experienceBackend Development Technologies: Kafka, PostgreSQL, Java/SpringbootExperience with containerization technologies (i.e.: Docker, Kubernetes)Experience with DevOps practices and toolsEnterprise Distributed Systems Cloud Native (AWS, GCP, Azure)Relevant AI-powered inventory management experienceSaaS or Automotive IndustryBase Salary Ranges: $115,000 - $140,000CDK Global is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Compensation packages are based on several factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, certifications, and work location.
