Together, we guide families on their journey back to independence and into permanent housing.RESPONSIBILITIES Follow all OSHA requirementsAssist Program Director or Program Coordinator with the development of program goals and early childhood activitiesAssist in preparation of lesson plans in compliance with ACD regulationsCreate a nurturing and supportive environment for children Implement various early childhood educational, recreational and social activities that foster development and growthEngage children in team building activitiesAssist an individual child or group of children with dressing and toilet training; change diapers; ensure sanitary conditionsProvide classroom managementAttend regular staff meetingsAttend training sessions and workshops on early childhood educationMeet monthly with program coordinator and/or program director for supervision Act as a liaison with parentsPerform additional duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree (Education or Early Childhood preferred)Clearance through New York State Central Registry and the New York State Office of Children and Family ServicesFirst Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Responding to Emergency (RTE) certification, or ability to obtain within 3-6 monthsProficiency in English required; proficiency in a second language preferredTwo years of experience working in a day care, pre-school, or special education setting preferredSKILLS/ABILITIESExcellent time management and communication skillsGood writing skillsAbility to work with infants and preschool children from the ages of 0-5 yearsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time, or climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork. Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents. Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation. Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
