The successful candidate will have a love and passion for working with middle schoolers (grades 5 through 8) and supporting both their academic and social-emotional development. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to operate effectively in diverse environments, interact successfully with people from widely varying backgrounds, and employ culturally responsive pedagogy to create an inclusive and equitable classroom community. This position involves teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Spanish, serving as an advisor to middle school students, and contributing to a professional culture of care, collaboration, creativity, and collegiality.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver engaging and innovative instruction in Spanish classes at the middle school level (grades 6 through 8).Serve as advisor to 10-15 middle school students and contribute to a grade-level team.Teach in the middle school Dive (elective) program and advise a middle school club.Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers of students and advisees to keep them aware of student progress.Actively participate in the school community, collaborating with colleagues and contributing to a positive and dynamic academic environment.Pursue and engage in ongoing professional development opportunities aligned with the school's mission and goals.Position Requirements Passion and enthusiasm for working with middle school students, with an emphasis on care, advocacy, and relationship buildingExperience in the classroom teaching Spanish to middle school studentsUnderstanding of child development and educational needs for students in grades 5 through 8Bachelor's and/or master's degree in Spanish, World Language Education, or a related fieldNative or near-native proficiency in Spanish Demonstrated experience incultural competency in teaching practices.creating a positive and inclusive classroom culture in which students feel safe and supported.developing communicative language proficiency across listening, speaking, reading, and writing.facilitating immersive, target-language learning experiences that build fluency and cultural understanding.differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.assessing and documenting student growth through observations, record-keeping, and various formal assessments.planning and implementing an integrated curriculum using informed and innovative approaches.We welcome candidates to submit a cover letter and resume by applying here .
