CRM Solution Lead
At BackOffice Thinking, we work with nonprofits, foundations, and membership organizations on a variety of technology projects, including software assessments, website development, and CRM implementation & support. We’re looking for a CRM Solution Lead to join our team and help us help our clients be successful.Our clients don’t come to us because they need code. They come to us because they need someone who can understand their business, solve complex problems, and help them make smart technology decisions.As a Technical Solution Lead, you’ll bridge the gap between business and technology, partnering with clients, Project Managers, and developers to design solutions that deliver real results.You’ll serve as both a technical consultant and business analyst, translating client needs into scalable solutions, configuring and improving CRM systems and processes. You’ll directly engage with our nonprofit clients, providing expert guidance and support for their CRMs.This is a full-time, fully remote position. You’ll be a great fit if you have CRM and technical expertise, strong business analysis skills, a proactive approach to client engagement, and a genuine desire to help clients make a difference. You should also be someone who enjoys learning in motion – the kind of person who doesn’t panic when they’re “building the boat while sailing it.” You’re comfortable being in front of a client while still learning, asking the right questions, following your instincts, and figuring things out as you go.Who You AreBusiness Discovery & Requirements: Guides non-profit clients through discovery to understand their business goals, uncover underlying needs, and define clear, well-documented requirements that drive the right solution.Solution Design: Partners with clients to design thoughtful technical solutions that balance immediate priorities with long-term strategy.Client Communication & Consulting: Builds confidence by making technology understandable. Communicate with confidence, translating technical complexity into practical guidance that clients and teammates can understand and act on.Project Partnership: Stays ahead of the work by anticipating dependencies, communicating proactively, and partnering closely with Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle.Technical Leadership: Enjoys heavy technical work and strengthens the team by sharing knowledge, promoting technical excellence, and building solutions that are maintainable, scalable, and supportable.Ownership & Professionalism: Takes ownership from discovery through delivery, following through on commitments, communicating proactively, and continuously improving the way we serve our clients.Learning Agility: Embraces new technologies quickly, continuously expanding technical expertise to bring fresh ideas and practical solutions to clients and teammates.Nonprofit CRM Systems: 3+ years of designing and delivering tailored solutions for nonprofit CRM platforms.Consulting: 3+ years experience of working in a consulting environmentWhat You KnowAdvanced Integrations & APIs: Proven ability to design complex custom integrations, utilizing REST APIs, webhooks, and data synchronization strategies, while overseeing developers and managing UAT/testing.Workflow Automation: Ability to architect complex integration strategies and oversee the implementation of automated workflows using platforms like n8n, Make, or Zapier, ensuring seamless data orchestration between CRMs and third-party services.Solution Architecture: Ability to design scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions that bridge business requirements with underlying technologies.Data Modeling: Strong understanding of relational databases, data migration strategies, and complex data mapping between disparate systems.Requirements Discovery: Experience leading technical scoping sessions, extracting complex requirements from stakeholders, and translating them into actionable technical plans.Technical Documentation: Excellent ability to write clear, comprehensive documentation for both engineering teams and non-technical clients.Preferred but not Required:CRM Expertise: Experience developing, extending, or architecting solutions within nonprofit CRM platforms, with specific proficiency in CiviCRM and/or Neon CRM.CMS Development: Experience building, extending, or architecting solutions in WordPress and Drupal, especially in how they integrate with CRM platforms.Development Best Practices: Proficiency in Git workflows, code reviews, deployment pipelines (CI/CD), and modern web development standards.How We Work & GrowThese ideas shape how we hire, how we work, and how we grow.
