Optician / Optometric Assistant

Job DescriptionOur office is seeking an experienced Optometric Assistant / Optician. Pay is commiserate to demonstrated experience. We are an established general optometry office and are looking for a team player to join our small office family. We pride ourselves in our desire to provide the best care and service to our patients. Applicant must have a pleasant demeanor, be able to multi task, have a strong work ethic, and be able to connect genuinely with our patients. Since we are a small office employees are cross trained. .Responsibilities include:* Verifying patient insurance and explaining insurance benefit to patient* Billing medical and vision insurances, submitting lab orders* Assist patients with frame styling, advise patients about lens options based on individual patient visual needs, fit eyewear to patients, take optical measurements, neutralize prescriptions, perform glasses repair, troubleshoot problems* Become proficient in use of practice software (Officemate, Examwriter, and ECR vault)* Perform contact lens trainings* Check in spectacle and contact lens orders, verify glasses are made to specification, and informing patients when orders are ready or delayed* Assist with answering phone calls, greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and managing patient files* Address any patient concerns with patience and a caring attitudeBasic Qualifications* High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred* Optical dispensing experience* Strong customer service skills: good verbal communication skills, active listener, patience, ability to resolve problems and diffuse conflict to ensure patient satisfaction* Strong basic math skills* Comfortable using a computer and willingness to learn office software programs* Professional appearance and demeanor* Punctual, able to arrive at work on time,Compensation:* Hourly wage commensurate on qualifications and experience* Benefits eligible after 90 days include healthcare for full time employees, complimentary eyecare and eye wear, paid holidays, sick days, and vacation days.* If you have experience in any of the following, this may be an ideal position for you* optometric technician* optometry* ophthalmic technician* optometrist medical assistant* medical billing* insurance billing* opticianJob Type: Full-time or Part Time
