The district has approximately 1,000 students in junior kindergarten-5th grade between the two elementary schools, approximately 425 at the middle school level and approximately 750 at the high school. This small, tight knit community has a strong connection to its schools and is passionate about the education of its youth. Brandon High School sends 85-90% of its graduates to post-secondary school each year, it was ranked in the 82nd percentile of all schools in the State on the top-to-bottom rankings and it was awarded as a Silver Medal Winner by the US News. Our elementary schools are both one-to-one technology are each near the 83rd percentile in State rankings.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Master's Degree in Guidance and CounselingCurrent School Counseling Endorsement or School Counselor License through MDEPublic school counseling experience with a strong background/knowledge in the areas of scheduling, testing, and group counseling preferred.ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS:Develop and implement a comprehensive guidance and counseling program for students.Consult and collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to support student success and the educational program.Analyze student achievement data to guide and advocate for appropriate course selection.Provide individual and group counseling to address academic, behavioral, and social-emotion challenges.Identify and connect students with academic and personal resources to promote success.Monitor student attendance daily and implement intervention strategies to address absences.Assist in developing and maintaining the school's Master Schedule of classes.Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and assessment results.Guide students in selecting and scheduling appropriate courses to meet their academic goals.Serve as a communication link between teachers, parents, and students to resolve academic and behavioral concerns.Counsel students on educational, career, and personal/social development.Support students in accessing post-secondary opportunities, including college, vocational training, and career planning.Refer students and families to appropriate community resources as needed.Complete and submit statistical reports and documentation.Performs other duties as assigned.REPORTS TO: Building PrincipalWORKDAY/WEEK: Per BEA Master AgreementSTARTING DATE: 2026-2027 School YearCOMPENSATION: Per BEA Master AgreementPOSTING DATE: 04/21/2026POSTING DEADLINE: Internal: 04/23/2026External: Until Filled
