The role provides architectural leadership across data platforms, analytics, and enterprise systems for the utilities sector, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with client business needs while enabling consistent data governance and accelerating value realization.Role AccountabilitiesEnterprise Data Architecture & StrategyLead the definition and recommendation of enterprise data and analytics architectures, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Establish architectural standards and design patterns for data ingestion, integration, storage, analytics, and visualization, and maintain roadmaps for data platforms and emerging technologies.Analytics Platforms & Cloud ArchitectureArchitecture and design of modern analytics platforms such as Azure, Microsoft Fabric, enterprise data warehouses, and BI tools. Guide scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, data lakes, and analytics environments, ensuring performance, reliability, security, and cost optimization. Support self-service analytics capabilities with appropriate governance.Data Governance & Information ManagementPartner with business and IT stakeholders to implement enterprise data governance frameworks, setting standards for data quality, metadata management, master and reference data, and data lifecycle management. Lead data cataloging, lineage, and stewardship initiatives while ensuring regulatory, security, and privacy compliance.Integration & Systems ArchitectureDesign enterprise data flows across key operational systems such as AMI, CIS, ERP, CMMS, SCADA, and GIS, promoting consistent integration patterns and interoperability. Provide architectural reviews and recommendations for new systems, enhancements, and third-party technology platforms.Stakeholder Engagement & LeadershipAct as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, program managers, and business stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into actionable guidance. Mentor solution architects and technical teams, promote best practices, and support client engagements, pursuits, and proposal development.Key AttributesStrategic thinker with a pragmatic, implementation-focused mindset. Excellent communication skills, able to influence at executive and technical levels. Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving alignment across organizations. Passion for enabling data-driven decision-making in mission-critical utility environments and experience mentoring, developing, and managing technical teams.Qualifications & ExperienceRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, data architecture, or analytics architecture rolesDemonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise data and analytics platformsFamiliarity with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, UAFStrong understanding of data modeling, data integration, analytics, and BI architecturesExperience with cloud platforms and modern data ecosystems (Azure preferred)Proven ability to work across business and technical teams in complex, multi-stakeholder environmentsPreferred QualificationsExperience in the water, wastewater, or utility sector, including operational systems such as SCADA, AMI, asset management, customer systems, or regulatory reportingExperience establishing or leading enterprise data governance programsKnowledge of utility operational systems and data domainsExperience supporting large, multi-year enterprise transformation programsProfessional certifications (e.g., Azure, data architecture, or analytics certifications)BenefitsArcadis offers benefits for full-time and part-time positions, including medical, dental, vision, EAP, 401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program, wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance, and tuition reimbursement.
