Controller (Manufacturing)

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting functions for a growing mid-market manufacturing company. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, managing the month-end close process, and supporting operational leadership with financial insights.The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, experience within a manufacturing environment, and the ability to improve processes and controls within a dynamic, fast-paced organization.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure proper documentation of transactions.Manage and maintain cost accounting systems including standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.Monitor manufacturing costs, inventory levels, and margins to support operational decision-making.Work closely with operations to analyze production costs, inventory controls, and process efficiencies.Support the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting.Analyze financial performance versus budget and provide variance analysis and actionable insights to leadership.Develop, maintain, and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies.Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements, tax regulations, and company policies.Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners as needed.Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.Identify and implement improvements in accounting systems, financial processes, and reporting capabilities.Partner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and leadership teams to support business initiatives.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.Manufacturing industry experience required, with strong knowledge of cost accounting and inventory management.Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
