Summary/Objective: The Assistant Property Controller is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls for a residential real estate portfolio. This role partners closely with senior leadership, asset management, and property operations to support strategic decision-making, ensure compliance with US GAAP, and drive process improvements. The position also leads and mentors accounting staff, enhances systems and procedures, and provides financial guidance to property management teams to support organizational goals. ClassificationExempt LocationNew York, NY 10022 Essential function/Responsibilities: duties include but are not limited to the following:Manage all aspects of financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including:Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures.Coordinate financial forecasting and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making by identifying trends, opportunities, and risks to optimize financial performance.Conduct targeted financial analyses to guide/support operational and strategic initiatives.Design and maintain budgets for properties under management.Develop and implement departmental procedures, processes, and systems to support both immediate needs and long-term objectives.Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.Develop and implement departmental procedures, processes, and systems to support both immediate needs and long-term objectives.Evaluate and enhance accounting systems and processes to streamline operations and improve efficiency.Assess and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Work with senior leadership to identify and implement software tools to help facilitate operational efficiencies/process improvements.Provide guidance and support to property management teams on financial matters through effective communication.Collaborate with Paths senior management and asset management teams to develop financial strategies that align with organizational goals and objectives.
