Junior Process Engineer
Overview
As a Process Engineer at our Festus, Missouri Plant, you will drive process-flow studies and improvements to optimize production systems. You will work closely with operations and maintenance teams to reduce downtime, enhance safety, and implement flow- analysis programs. This role offers hands-on problem solving in a fast-paced, dusty plant environment with opportunities to shape plant performance and safety culture. ResponsibilitiesSchedule and participate in process-flow studies for production systems; plan, design, and coordinate flow-improvement projects; train plant personnel in process-flow activitiesCollaborate with Night Plant Supervisors, Maintenance Planner and Automation Engineer to address flow issues and minimize downtime; implement regular flow analysis programs; prepare process-flow materials and services contractsAnalyze equipment shutdowns and recommend operational/control changes; oversee implementation of agreed changesEnsure adherence to plant conduct, health and safety, and environmental policies; administer disciplinary actions as neededOn-call coverage for plant needs and occasional replacement for Production ManagerLead weekly safety meetings; inspect department for unsafe conditions and equipment to prevent injuries and accidentsSupervise contractors on production projects; maintain cost records for process-control workEnsure work orders for operations and safety inspections are provided to Maintenance Planner
Key requirementsBS in Engineering; Chemical Engineering preferred2–4 years of operations experienceCement industry experience preferred but not requiredStrong interpersonal skills; ability to build consensusSelf-starter and inquisitive; ability to develop long-term repair solutionsSolid computer skills; working knowledge of Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH) and company policiesPhysical dexterity to lift heavy objects and navigate a dusty, noisy plant environmentFamiliarity with plant safety, environmental, and operational regulationsInterpersonal communicationConsensus-buildingProactive/problem-solving mindsetProcess flow analysisProcess-improvement project managementSafety and environmental compliance
