Director of Business Development – Power Infrastructure

About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive strategic growth within the electrical power construction market. This role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strong client relationships, and supporting the pursuit and capture of complex electrical infrastructure projects.The ideal candidate brings deep industry knowledge, established utility relationships, and a strong track record of winning work within transmission, distribution, substation, and large-scale power markets.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities within the electrical power construction sectorBuild and maintain strong relationships with utilities, electrical membership cooperatives (EMCs), data center developers, and other key industry partnersLead the preparation of proposals, RFP responses, presentations, and pursuit strategies for new project opportunitiesCollaborate with estimating, operations, and engineering teams to support pre-construction and business capture effortsRepresent the company at client meetings, industry conferences, trade shows, and networking eventsMonitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to refine growth strategiesMaintain accurate CRM records and provide regular reporting on pipeline activity, forecasting, and business development performanceSupport contract negotiations and ensure a seamless transition from project award to operations/construction teamsDevelop and execute strategic account and territory plans aligned with revenue and margin goalsQualificationsMinimum of 5 years of business development, sales, or client management experience within the electrical utility or power construction industryProven experience growing relationships with major utility providers. Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure projects including transmission, distribution, and substationsDemonstrated success generating leads, developing client relationships, and closing business in a technical sales environmentExcellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skillsSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesWillingness to travel as neededProficiency with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred), Microsoft Office Suite, and proposal development toolsEducationHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredBachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferredEquivalent industry experience will also be considered
