Senior Scientist, LNP, Process Development & Manufacturing
Overview
As an LNP Senior Scientist at ElevateBio, you will lead LNP formulation studies and support technology transfers to enable manufacturing readiness for LNP-based therapeutics. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external clients to translate development into scalable production. You will characterize LNP/tLNP formulations, analyze data, and drive process improvements that impact translation from development to GMP manufacturing. ResponsibilitiesLead LNP formulation studies to support process characterization, technology transfer, and manufacturing readinessCollaborate with MSAT, AD, Quality, Manufacturing, and external clients for process development and scale-upCharacterize LNP and tLNP formulations using analytical methods (size, PDI, zeta potential, encapsulation, ligand density, conjugation, stability)Analyze experimental data, identify improvements, and communicate findings to stakeholdersSupport commercial teams by evaluating work packages and proposals for LNP drug product manufacturingSupport technology transfer activities and documentation to ensure regulatory readinessContribute to development and optimization of LNP purification and scale-up processesAssist in data-driven decision making using DoE and statistical analysisCoordinate with external partners on process development milestones
Key requirementsPh.D. in a related discipline with 5+ years of industry experience in LNP development or drug delivery; or BS/MS with 12+ years of relevant experienceGMP familiarity and experience with CMC documentation, tech transfer, and regulatory filings for LNP productsProven track record with LNP formulation development, scale-up to GMP manufacturing, and tLNP developmentStrong data interpretation linking receptor engagement, ligand density, nanoparticle properties, and delivery performanceExperience with LNP analytical techniques (DLS, zeta potential, encapsulation assays such as RiboGreen, lipid quantification, stability)Experience operating automated LNP manufacturing/PD systems (e.g., PNI/Cytiva, Knauer) and tangential flow filtration (TFF) systems (Repligen)Ability to troubleshoot complex data, collaborate cross-functionally with MSAT, AD, analytical development, manufacturing, and external partnerscross-functional collaborationstrong analytical mindseteffective communication of complex dataLNP formulation development and optimizationtLNP development and bioconjugation strategiesLNP purification and TFF processes
