About the OpportunityWe are seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) to lead nursing operations at a brand-new inpatient substance abuse treatment facility. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for building, developing, and overseeing a nursing department that delivers safe, compliant, and patient-centered care.The ideal candidate is a hands-on nursing leader with experience in substance use disorder (SUD), detox, or behavioral health settings, and a strong background in team leadership, medication management, and regulatory compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee day-to-day nursing operations including staffing, scheduling, supervision, and performance managementLead recruitment, onboarding, and training of nursing staff to build a high-performing teamEnsure compliance with state regulations, Nurse Practice Act, DEA requirements, and all federal healthcare standardsManage all aspects of medication administration, including ordering, storage, reconciliation, and controlled substance monitoringMaintain secure medication systems, conduct audits, and implement diversion prevention protocolsOversee documentation standards including MARs, prescriber orders, and EMR accuracyPartner with medical providers to ensure proper implementation of treatment plans while respecting clinical autonomyMonitor and respond to medication errors, incidents, and quality concernsLead quality improvement initiatives and maintain survey readinessParticipate in incident reporting and regulatory inspectionsPromote a culture of patient safety, ethical nursing practice, and complianceQualifications & EducationBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) requiredMaster’s degree preferredExperience3–5+ years of nursing experience in:Substance abuse treatmentBehavioral healthDetox or residential settingsPrior nursing leadership or supervisory experience requiredExperience with:Medication reconciliation & controlled substancesRegulatory surveys & auditsEMR documentation systemsLicensureActive Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific, in good standing)CPR certification required; ACLS preferredAbility to oversee controlled substance compliance / DEA standardsWhat You’ll BringStrong leadership and team-building skillsDeep understanding of behavioral health and SUD populationsKnowledge of:Medication management systemsInfection control protocolsHealthcare compliance and documentation standardsAbility to thrive in a start-up / new facility environmentBenefits:Dental insuranceHealth insurancePaid time offVision insurance
