On-Call ArchaeologistThe On-Call Archaeologist will support a variety of archaeology projects within the state of Nevada.Essential Job Functions:Serve as an archaeologist for assigned projectsConduct Class III (intensive pedestrian) cultural resources inventoryIndependently document archaeological sites and IOs/IFsEvaluate resources for NRHP-eligibilityCultural desktop reviews and pre-field literature reviewsBackground and archival researchDeliverables coordination and reviewsDeliverables submissions to agenciesProposal writing and budgeting and general marketing dutiesWrite monitoring and IMACS forms with minimal errorsFollow instruction and make adjustments when provided feedbackDescribe and differentiate geological and cultural strata in order to identify archaeological depositsDifferentiate faunal and human bonesGPS data collectionAbility to work night shifts based on business needsMaintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetingsSupport, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright's and Eocene Environmental Group's culture of safety and employee ownershipComply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and proceduresOther Duties:Position will require outside travelJob Requirements:Has completed coursework leading to a degree in archaeology, anthropology, or related field:Crew Member – minimum 2 years of college-level coursework and completion of a field school.Crew Chief – bachelor's degree, completion of a field school, and 1 year of professional experience.Field Director / Project Archaeologist – bachelor's degree, completion of a field school, 2 years of professional experience, and is permitted or qualified for agency permitting based on the SOI Professional Qualification Standards.Principal Investigator – graduate degree, completion of a field school, 2 years professional experience as a Field Director, and is permitted or qualified for agency permitting based on the SOI Professional Qualification Standards.Ability to be listed on agency permits as Field Technician/MonitorProficient in prehistoric and/or historic archaeology in the designated regionProficient in documenting archaeological sites and IOs/IFs in the designated regionSurvey an average of 30 acres/5 miles per day and carry personal health and safety equipment (i.e., personal water, sunscreen, etc.) when surveyingWork in moderate weather conditions (fluctuating temperatures and inclement weather, including rain and snow)Perform work duties independently and efficiently, while working in a team settingAbility to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendorsPreferred Experience:Ability to work night shifts based on business needsProficiency in using tablets (Apple iPad or Samsung Galaxy) to document cultural resourcesProficiency with sub-meter GPS receiverProficiency with ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 applications (for phone or tablet)Previous NHPA, NEPA, FERC, and/or other cultural or environmental trainingsStrong writing and editing skillsEocene Environmental Group, Inc. provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
