Medical Director
The Market Medical Director is a key member of our client's leadership team. This leader will partner closely with the Market President to build out and manage the entire market team across a market geography. As part of this leaders' responsibilities, they will lead our clinical teams in the market (Nurse Practitioners and PAs) and engage in direct patient care with a small panel of high-risk patients.Our client meets patients where they are – whether that’s in their home, at a community center, in a dialysis facility or in the hospital. It is crucial that our Market Medical Director engages in the practice of in-home care and coaches and develops our clinicians. As the leader of their market-focused clinical practice, the Market Medical Director will be responsible for ensuring new patients are seen in a timely manner, that clinical documentation is thorough and accurate and that team members develop and use problem-solving skills to prevent unnecessary medical utilization—all with the objective of keeping our patients happy, healthy and at home.The Market Medical Director will be responsible for ongoing education and evaluation of market-specific APP competencies including diagnostic skills, application of evidence-based treatment protocols while also teaching APPS to apply fundamentals of population health management to their panels. This is an ideal role for a clinical leader who wants to drive outcomes for complex patients and build a team that engages in holistic patient care. What You Will Do:Collaborate with the Market President to deliver results on KPIs and P&L objectivesTrain and educate APPs through high-intensity coaching based upon performance parametersManage priority and high-risk patients in short intervals to stabilize their clinical situation, then transition to APP panels as appropriateServe as a key participant in health plan and network provider partnership discussionsContinuously foster relationship management with partners aligning with key business results including growth targets, partner engagement and clinical/financial outcomesSupport board material content creationOther duties as assignedRequirements:M.D. or D.O. GraduateBoard Certification in Internal Medicine or an Internal Medicine subspecialty RequiredFellowship training in an Internal Medicine subspecialty preferred but not requiredActive medical license for market-specific state or statesOther professional degree (MPH, MBA, JD, MMM) welcome but not required7 or more years’ experience in clinical practice with outpatient or home-based practice as a component of practice, value-based care experience preferredExperience in one or more clinical leadership roles including but not limited to medical director, service line leader, division chief, or department chair, and experience working with and coaching APPs and other cliniciansExperience using KPIs and data to improve quality and clinical outcomes for patients and monitor cost of careTrack record of delivering clinical outcomes that decrease patient utilization for a complex patient population.Comprehensive understanding of the success drivers of value-based care, not limited to risk adjustment, HEDIS, and utilization.An inspirational leader who is laser-focused on leading a team that delivers clinical outcomes aligned with demonstrating medical expense reductionExperience with advanced kidney disease and ESRD clinical management a plusInnate curiosity and drive to deliver measurable impact in a start-up healthcare entity
