Mechanical Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob DescriptionThe Mechanical Engineer will consult with clients to determine design requirements and research the users of the product and its various applications. The role involves sketching ideas, creating renderings, and using computer software to develop virtual models. The engineer will create physical prototypes, examine materials and production costs, and collaborate with other specialists to ensure design concepts meet client needs cost-effectively. Evaluating product safety, appearance, and functionality to determine practicality is essential, as is presenting designs and demonstrating prototypes to clients for approval.ResponsibilitiesConsult with clients to determine design requirements.Research the users of the product and its various applications.Sketch ideas or create renderings to provide better visuals of design ideas.Develop virtual models using computer software.Create physical prototypes of designs.Examine materials and production costs to determine manufacturing requirements.Work with other specialists to evaluate design concepts for cost-effectiveness.Evaluate product safety, appearance, and functionality.Present designs and demonstrate prototypes to clients for approval.Essential SkillsMinimum of 3-5 years of design experience in design for manufacturability using SolidWorks.Proficiency in solidworks, mechanical design, GD&T.Ability to perform tolerance analysis on assemblies.Experience with coefficient of thermal expansion in design.Capability to design products to withstand shock and vibration.Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability.Ability to work well in a team and coordinate work with local and external teams.Capability to design to customer requirements list.Additional Skills & Qualifications* Optics experience is a plus.Work EnvironmentThe position is based in an engineering services firm in Plano, TX. The environment is fast-paced, requiring the ability to adapt quickly and effectively to changing demands.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Plano, TX.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
