Failure Analysis Engineer (Consumer Electronics)
Job Description
The product safety team is looking for a Field Safety Engineer with a strong expertise in failure analysis, designing and conducting reliability tests for a variety of products in consumer electronics, and components.
This person will support deep dive analysis of products in field. There is a focus on consumer electronics and batteries for this team.
Key qualifications and requirements
Minimum 5 years’ experience in engineering, with a strong proficiency in Failure Analysis & Forensics methods
Proficient in developing test plans, procedures, and workflows
Experience in consumer electronics, focusing on electrical engineering and battery failure analysis, with proficiency in CT scan and X-ray interpretation
Strong communicator; adaptive personality capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Thrives under pressure and has a high curiosity quotient needed to excel in FA role
Strong MS Excel, Apple Keynote skills
Data visualization skills, and the capability to communicate nuances and conclusions effectively (written & verbal)
Proficiency and aptitude for Tableau suite of tools a plus
Core Responsibilities:
Work with other field safety engineers to provide engineering support for safety field returns
Conduct root cause failure analysis independently across diverse products and applications
Develop mechanical test fixtures and methodologies tailored to specific testing requirements
Develop and enhance analysis SOP from a long-term perspective
Create actionable test plans, ensure technician adherence, and deliver timely results
Analyze test data to identify trends, potential failure modes, and areas for product improvement
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate design concepts and enhance product reliability/safety
Conduct device / battery cell teardowns and gather corresponding documentation and image captures
Prepare comprehensive technical reports detailing test findings, methodologies
Communicate analysis results and findings using Keynote and data visualization tools (Tableau)Conduct risk assessments for product field returns, identifying potential hazards and developing effective mitigation strategies

Pay: $55.00 per hour
