TV News MMJ/Backup News Anchor

Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site role located in Bemidji, MN, for a TV News Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) and Backup News Anchor. The selected candidate will research, write, shoot, and edit news stories for broadcast and digital platforms. Additional duties include reporting on local events, conducting interviews, writing scripts, and producing news packages. The Backup News Anchor responsibilities involve presenting live or pre-recorded news segments and stepping in for anchor coverage as needed. Collaboration with the newsroom team is essential to deliver credible, engaging news to our community.QualificationsProficiency in writing, editing, and researching compelling news contentExperience with on-air anchoring and live reporting, maintaining clear and professional communicationTechnical skills in videography, video editing, and operating audiovisual equipmentKnowledge of AP style, newsroom workflows, and digital media platformsStrong public speaking abilities and the ability to work under tight deadlinesFlexibility in adapting to developing stories and working non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekendsPrevious experience in broadcast journalism and familiarity with PBS programming are a plusBachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred but not requiredValid driver’s license and reliable transportationCompany DescriptionLakeland PBS is a publicly owned 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving the diverse communities of northern and central Minnesota.
