For this manager role, we are seeking a candidate with proven experience in process management, financial controls, and data oversight to help advance the accounting workflows. If you are a detail oriented person, this may be an opportunity for you!ResponsibilitiesFinancial Operations & ControlsSupport core accounting and financial operations activities across multiple processes, including (but not limited to) fee calculation and revenue-related workflowsEnsure accuracy and consistency in the application of financial rules, schedules, and underlying assumptionsIdentify control gaps, design mitigating controls, and support ongoing audit and regulatory readiness effortsProcess Design and DocumentationDesign, document, and maintain process narratives across financial operations and accountingEstablish repeatable workflows, control checkpoints, and ownership clarity to improve consistency and scalability Partner with Accounting leadership to formalize processes that are currently undocumented or reliant on institutional knowledgeCollaborate with IT and Operations to ensure data integrity and system alignment for accountingLead mock billing runs and reconciliation processes to ensure audit readinessData Review & ValidationReview and validate financial and operational data received from internal systems and third-party partnersInvestigate and resolve data discrepancies, root cause issues, and process breakpointsCollaborate with IT, Operations, and Data teams to improve data integrity and system alignmentPartner with compliance to ensure billing practices meet fiduciary and regulatory standardsFee Calculation & ValidationOwn the monthly and quarterly billing outcome for workplace 401(k) plansEnsure accurate application of fee schedules, rate tiers, and exclusionsValidate inputs such as AUM, participant counts, and plan-level configurationsReporting & AnalysisGenerate billing summaries, variance reports, and revenue forecastsSupport Finance and Client Service teams with billing-related inquiries and reporting needsRespond to internal stakeholder inquiries related to financial operations and process executionContinuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and scalability across accounting and financial operations Participate in cross-functional initiatives to modernize systems, improve documentation, and strengthen the control environment Contribute to the evolution of internal controls as business needs and platforms changeRequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field8+ years of experience in accounting, financial operations, or related functionExperience in the RIA or retirement plan industry strongly preferredStrong understanding of internal controls, process design, and financial operations best practicesAdvanced Excel skills; experience with billing platforms (e.g., Orion, Black Diamond, or similar) a plusDetail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and collaboration abilitiesEdelman Financial Engines takes a market-based approach to pay. The expected base salary range for this role nationally is $94,500 - $126,000. However, final base pay will be carefully determined based on several factors, including responsibilities, job-related skills, relevant experience, geographic location, and market conditions.
