Division Controller
Position SummaryThe Division Controller owns the financial performance management process for the division and serves as the primary financial advisor to the Division President. The role is responsible for accounting, reporting, planning, analysis, working capital, and financial controls. The role provides accurate and timely financial information, analysis, and insights to support operational, commercial, and strategic decision-making.The Division Controller will lead the monthly close and financial reporting process, budgeting and forecasting, cost accounting and inventory control, monitor overall financial performance, and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The role works closely with senior finance leadership to drive financial visibility, operational excellence, profitability, and continuous improvement across the division.The Division Controller is located on-site in Grand Rapids, MI.The successful candidate will be a strategic business partner to the Division President and a key member of both the division leadership team and finance organization. Combining strong technical accounting expertise with business acumen and operational insight, the Division Controller will influence decisions, drive accountability, and translate financial information into actions that improve performance and create shareholder value.Key ResponsibilitiesPartner with the Division President to improve financial and operational performance of the divisionServe as a key member of the division leadership team, providing financial guidance and operational leadership to the organizationCollaborate with senior finance leadership to improve financial reporting, analysis, and performance managementTranslate financial results into actionable insights that support strategic decision-makingSpecific ResponsibilitiesLead/own the month-end close process for the divisionMaintain a monthly close checklist; ensure timely, accurate month-end close and complete financial reportingMonitor performance against budget and prior year and provide clear explanations of key variancesPrepare and present division financials and performance to senior leadership; identify significant variances, trends, and areas requiring management attentionIdentify opportunities to improve profitability, cash flow, working capital, and overall financial performanceEnsure compliance with US GAAP and company accounting policiesOversee general ledger activity, account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and other accounting processesDevelop and maintain profitability reporting by product line, SKU, customer, and channelAnalyze manufacturing variances, including material, labor, and overhead, and provide variance explanations and improvement insights to leadershipMonitor monthly inventory levels, variances, and reservesMonitor and improve working capital performance, including inventory, receivables, and payablesEnsure intercompany accounts reconcile and eliminateWork with cost accounting leadership to develop and implement year-end standard cost updatesLead the annual budgeting process for the division in partnership with operational and functional leaders and financeAssist senior finance and executive leadership with special projects#INDCEN
