Join a team committed to setting new standards of excellence and innovation in the field of directional drilling.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time on-site position for a Well Planner based in Tomball, TX. The Well Planner will be responsible for designing precise and efficient onshore well plans, analyzing geological data, and collaborating with drilling engineers to optimize directional drilling operations. Daily tasks include creating well trajectories, utilizing measurement-while-drilling (MWD) data, and ensuring all plans meet regulatory and technical standards. The role requires attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and a commitment to operational excellence.Responsibilities·Gather and interpret data to calculate well plansDesign trajectories and drilling plansCollaborate with engineers, geologists and operationsPrepare plan reports, anti-collision reports and wall plots for customer and field useMonitor real-time anti-collision concernsUpdate department, customer and field databasesRecord and archive customer documentation and correspondenceMaintain job logs and daily tracking databasesImplement continuous improvement strategies for drilling activitiesEnsure compliance with safety and environmental regulationsPerform other relevant tasks and duties as requiredRequired Skills & ExperienceAt least 3 years of combined experience in the drilling industry. Experience must involve engineering, surveying and/or well planning rolesWilling and able to work outside of standard business hoursVery proficient in Microsoft products, including Excel, Outlook, and WordAbility to follow Standard Operating Procedures with minimal guidance after training.Strong communicationCritical thinking skills, including the ability to work through complex problems and present potential solutionsPreferred Qualifications & ExperienceDegree in engineering, business or related field5 or more years of drilling industry experience in all aspects of well planningIntermediate or expert knowledge with Landmark/Compass, and other well mapping softwareExperience with anti-collision with real-time monitoringExperience managing multiple projectsAbility to lead teams and influence without authorityAbility to effectively collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders and other team members to meet goalsProficiency with AutoCAD softwareJob Type & Schedule:Full Time, 8-hour shiftSalary, ExemptMonday through Friday, plus on-call rotationsOn-site at office in Tomball, TexasBenefits & Perks:Health coverage for employee and family through medical, dental & vision insuranceFinancial protection through life and disability insurance and 401KProfessional developmentHoliday observancesTeam-driven atmosphereCompany social events
