Job Title: Benefits SpecialistContract Duration: 6 months, possible extensionLocation: Vernon Hills, ILWork Arrangement: HybridSummaryThe Benefits Specialist is part of the HR Shared Services organization and supports the administration and operational execution of coworker benefit programs. This role partners closely with Payroll, Finance, Accounts Payable, the Benefits Center of Excellence (COE), IT/HRIS, and third-party vendors to ensureaccurate benefit payments, compliant payroll processing, effective budget management, and timely coworker communication.ResponsibilitiesSupport day-to-day administration of coworker benefit programs by partnering with vendors and internal teams.Drive continuous process improvements across benefits workflows that impact payroll accuracy, efficiency, and downstream processing by partnering with IT/HRIS and cross functional teams to support configuration, testing, and validation of system changes.Prepare and submit benefit related payroll inputs, including leave and disability payments, and partner with Payroll to ensure accurate processing of onetime payments, taxable benefits, and gross ups in accordance with IRS guidelines.Audit vendor files and reports to validate accuracy, coworker terminations, and dependent eligibility.Manage benefit vendor invoices, including self billing activities, and coordinate vendor payments with Accounts Payable.Track benefit program spend and maintain monthly invoice and accrual reporting to support budget management and financial reconciliation.Support unclaimed property reporting and coordinate submissions with external partners.Partner with IT/HRIS, Payroll, and the Benefits COE to support automated data feeds and resolve errors impacting benefit balances or payroll.Communicate with coworkers regarding benefit payments, corrections, and program participation.Perform other benefit related duties and support special projects as assigned.QualificationsMinimum of 2 years of experience in HR, administrative, customer service, or a related role, with the ability to adapt during periods of change.At least 2 years of experience executing benefits or wellness programs and initiatives.Bachelors degree with 3+ years of experience administering and executing coworker benefit programs, or 7+ years of equivalent professional experience in benefit program administration.Experience working in an HRIS or HCM system for benefits administration (Workday preferred).Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all stakeholders, including senior leadershipDemonstrated ability to clearly explain benefit programs and concepts to individuals unfamiliar with benefits terminology.Proven ability to balance competing priorities, adapt to changing business needs, and consistently meet deadlines.History of working independently with minimal direction.Strong creative problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and sound judgment.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications#INDPRO
