Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionTest TechnicianColumbia, MODescriptionThe R&D Test Technician is a hands-on role responsible for testing and validating new and existing products in an in-house lab. The technician uses equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and DMMs, integrates test systems using LabVIEW and Python, and develops automated testing setups. They design and execute test plans to meet UL safety standards, collect and analyze data, and report results. The role also supports prototyping, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, building test fixtures, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams and external test facilities to ensure products meet performance and regulatory requirements.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Experience with test equipment (DMM, power supply, oscilloscope)Experience integrating test equipment and data acquisition hardware using LabVIEW and PythonConduct engineering tests, collect test data, write and present reports of test results using MS Office suiteAbility to learn and understand UL Requirements for each project and tailor test plans to meet the chosen standardMaintain working knowledge of the current and new UL standards that are applicable to CTI equipmentPeriodically travel to third-party test facilities to witness testsSupport engineering with data collection, prototyping, testing, and documentationBuild automated testing systems for production testingPlan, draw, and fabricate housings, jigs, fittings, fixtures, test cables, and other devices to assist in testing, manufacturing, and assemblyTroubleshoot issues (processes, setups, and some product issues) in manufacturing; assist manufacturing with troubleshooting issues and run troubleshooting experiments for engineering to determine the root cause of failureDesign test procedures to meet product requirements (e.g. functionalities, timing, safety standards) Requirements Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Requires degree in relevant discipline or equivalent practical experienceBasic understanding of core engineering principles and development toolsExcellent organizational skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsHigh attention to detailProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to read/understand schematics, PCBs, and mechanical drawingsStrong algebra/math skillsStrong analytical and creative problem-solving skillsExcellent interpersonal and engagement skillsEagerness to learn, take initiative, and work in a collaborative environmentAbility to multitask and remain highly organized with proven ability to manage time and meet deadlines, developing effective organizational systems as needed Salary Description $20.00-33.65/ hour
