Electrical Controls Engineer📍 Franklin, WI | Hybrid (Must be able to commute to the office weekly)Krones, Inc. is seeking a skilled Electrical Controls Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in designing, integrating, and commissioning automation control systems for world-class packaging machinery. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys working across disciplines, solving complex automation challenges, and collaborating directly with customers.As an Electrical Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of automation controls—from design through startup—supporting Krones packaging systems and customer-owned equipment.Key responsibilities include:Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI-based automation systems for packaging machinery such as conveyors, labelers, and inspection equipment.Lead electrical and controls integration projects involving Krones machines and third-party equipment to ensure seamless system operationReview and interpret customer specifications and translate requirements into robust control system solution.Collaborate with customers, Mechanical Engineering, and vendors to define system architecture and functionality.Develop and modify electrical schematics, electromechanical assemblies, and parts lists using 3D CAD toolsCreate, modify, and maintain PLC and HMI programs to meet system and customer requirements.Provide engineering support during panel build, system testing, on-site installation, and commissioningSupport verification and validation of control systems.Ensure projects are delivered on time and meet all performance, safety, and customer expectations.Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)3+ years of experience working as a Controls Engineer3+ years of hands-on experience with: Electrical control circuits, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and PLC and HMI programmingWillingness and ability to travel approximately 20% (domestic and international)Must be able to reliably commute to the Franklin, WI headquartersTechnical Experience (one or more preferred):Allen Bradley ControlLogixSiemens S7 / TIA PortalB&R AutomationUL 508ISO 13849 safety standards (TÜV certification a plus)SAPWhy Join Krones?Work with advanced automation and packaging technologies used by leading global manufacturersBe part of an engineering-driven organization with strong collaboration between disciplinesGain exposure to diverse customer environments and control platformsCompetitive compensation and benefits, with opportunities for professional growth
