Division Director-Legal
The Legal Division Director is responsible for building, leading, and scaling a high-performing legal search practice in the California market, focused on the placement of attorneys within law firms and corporate legal departments. This role drives revenue growth through strategic business development, team leadership, and personal production, while positioning LHH as a trusted partner in the legal talent market.
Lead & Scale the Division
Build, coach, and develop a team of legal recruiters specializing in attorney placement
Drive a culture of accountability, performance, and collaboration
Recruit, hire, and onboard top recruiting talent
Drive Revenue & Personal Production
Maintain a personal book of business with direct involvement in attorney placements
Achieve and exceed division revenue, gross profit, and spread targets
Lead by example in both business development and recruiting execution
Business Development & Client Strategy
Establish and expand relationships with Am Law firms, regional firms, and corporate legal departments
Conduct consultative sales meetings to understand client hiring strategies and pain points
Develop and execute targeted go-to-market strategies within the legal vertical
Attorney Recruitment Execution
Oversee full-cycle recruiting for partner, associate, and in-house counsel roles
Ensure quality candidate pipelines through proactive sourcing, networking, and market mapping
Guide team on candidate qualification, offer negotiation, and closing strategies
Operational Excellence
Drive disciplined pipeline management, forecasting, and KPI tracking
Ensure accuracy in pricing, fee negotiations, and deal structuring
Partner cross-functionally to maximize fill rates and client delivery
Market Expertise & Brand Positioning
Serve as a subject matter expert on legal hiring trends, compensation, and competitive landscape
Build LHH’s brand in the legal community through networking, referrals, and industry engagement
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in legal recruiting, executive search, or staffing, with a focus on attorney placement
Proven success in 360 recruitment (business development + recruiting)
Leadership experience managing and developing high-performing teams
Strong network within law firms and/or corporate legal departments
Demonstrated track record of revenue generation and client expansion
