Cloud Engineer - AI Trainer
AfterQuery is seeking Cloud Engineer Experts to build and evaluate the cloud infrastructure and automation scenarios that frontier AI labs use to test model judgment. In this remote, asynchronous role you will design realistic engineering problems, review how models reason through them, and give detailed feedback that makes the resulting training data trustworthy.
Why Apply
Competitive Compensation: $115-$135/hour, paid weekly
Innovative Impact: Join a YC-backed research lab shaping how frontier models reason about software
Flexible Engagement: Fully remote and asynchronous, on your own schedule
Responsibilities
Design challenging, realistic cloud infrastructure and automation tasks drawn from production practice
Evaluate model responses for correctness, sound reasoning, and subtle failure modes
Document your reasoning clearly so another engineer can audit the judgement
Required Qualifications
2+ years of professional cloud engineering experience on AWS, Azure, or GCP
Hands-on infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar
Depth in at least one of networking, containers, serverless, or cost optimization
