Title 1 Math Tutor
Position Summary:Set schedule - singe cost objective - paid 100% from Title IThe Title I Math Tutor prepares, educates, and coaches students in a Responsive Education Solutions(ResponsiveEd) school. The tutor works with parents and students to provide and implement individualized instruction to improve student achievement.Qualifications:Education/Certification• One of the following:o A High School Diploma and 48 hours of higher educationo An Associate's degree or aboveo Successful completion of the THEA or other appropriate examination or core academic abilityo Successful completion of the Paraprofessional Educator course provided by Master Teachero Successful completion of Training of Paraprofessionals provided by Regional Service Centers• Texas State Teacher Certification (preferred)• ESL Certification (preferred)Experience:• Teaching/tutoring experience in a Public School (preferred)• Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) in Math courses: High School Algebra 1• A passion for children• The ability and patience to work interactively with children• Strong time management, communication, and interpersonal skills• The ability to understand the individual needs of each student• Clear understanding of goal setting for students• The ability to communicate with all levels of students, parents, staff, and Campus Directors• Excellent verbal communication skills• Able to manage multiple priorities effectively• General knowledge of ResponsiveEd curriculum and instruction methods (preferred)Responsibilities and Duties:• Provide tutoring and instruction to develop the students understanding in assigned content areas.• Provide sheltered instruction support for language acquisition.• Coach and help students to become familiar with state mandated testing and other assigned testing material.• Teach students and parents stress reducing techniques.• Allocate time and resources to areas the student(s) are struggling.• Perform tutorials, during normal business hoursEquipment Used:All equipment required to perform jobs duties and task previously described.Physical / Environmental Factors:The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
