Social Media Content Creator
Position SummaryAt Stony Brook Medicine, the Social Media Content Creator, reporting to the Social Media Manager, is responsible for supporting the Social Media Manager and producing content for Stony Brook Medicine's institutional and executive social media platforms. This role focuses on creating content that supports the organization's mission, market brand messaging, and disseminates information across platforms.DutiesProduce content in line with the content calendars managed by the Social Media Manager for SBM's primary social media accounts, as well as accounts for Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook Children's Hospital, and SBM's Executive Vice President. This includes attending events and capturing content in real time.Work with photographers, designers, and videographers to create multimedia content for cross-platform integration to support SBM's brand pillars and mission, and create this content yourself when necessary (filming, editing, captioning, reformatting).Attend bi-monthly and weekly social media check-in and collaboration meetings with other SBU and SBM social media managers.Use best practices to ensure content is optimized for each platform.Keep up with the latest social media trends and functionalities to consistently develop new features and campaigns that elevate SBM's social presence.Actively monitor platforms (social listening) for potential crises and identify engagement opportunities, including proposing social stories and coverage of events that support the content team's calendar themes and target audiences.Cover events in real time as needed (e.g., commencement, white coat ceremony, check presentations, patient discharges).Stay up-to-date on social and industry trends through research, conferences, and networking.Perform other duties or projects as assigned that align with the role and departmental mission.Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Media, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.Minimum one year of experience in social media content creation/writing and managing projects from conception to fulfillment across digital media channels.Thorough understanding and practice with common social media applications, including Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, Threads, and LinkedIn.Preferred QualificationsExperience in project and reputation management, content idea generation, and integrated and interactive coverage.Proficiency with Sprout Social, Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere and Express), Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and project management software such as Monday.com.SalaryStarting salary range: $63,672 - $74,285 per year.EEO StatementStony Brook University is committed to excellence in diversity and the creation of an inclusive learning and working environment.
